The blog I will be responding to is "It's time to remake the originals" by Wanna_Be_Ajedi, at http://blogs.starswars.com/wanna_besrambles/2.
Why do people want it?:
Many people believe that the original Star Wars movies need to be remade, but I can say that they are not needed. They think it should be remade because the original movies don't fit with the prequel movies anymore. They say when George Lucas started to create the newer movies, he slightly changed the story a little. Besides that, they want to see it just so they can see updated effects and battles. This person even said that this is one of the reasons for why they should be remade. Basically, people want them made so the story can fit well together, to fill in all the spots where things could be questioned.
Concerning the blog:
The many things he was talking about could easily have answers set up or be talked about in future movies or TV shows. There won't be any need of the remakes. About Obi-Wan not remembering R2-D2, maybe he got a memory wipe just like C-3PO. He could have even forgot stuff in his old age, despite being a jedi. Princess Leia probably remembers her mother because the guy who adopted her told her while she was growing up. It is not that hard to just come up with reasons. It is not like a person would not be able to tell how some of these things happened. You do not need a movie to tell you how things went. Anyways, that stuff could be talked about in a sequel. When it comes to Obi Wan being a better fighter as an old man, just like Yoda was, I can come up for why it shouldn't happen. Yoda was in the Jedi Council, so he was a great Jedi. Obi Wan Kenobi never made it to that level of training, thus why he isn't faster or stronger in his old age. Also, he probably never fought or trained in like 20 years, since he went into hiding after Episode III. That time off would make him a little bit rusty with both his lightsaber and jedi powers.
Why they should not:
I can say that these movie don't have to be remade because they are good the way they are. If they made newer versions, the actors would have to be changed, and nobody can take the place of the original actors. They would just not be able to live up to the hype of the original actors. If they did, most fans would not like it anyways. To them, it would feel like the these new movies are ruining the Star Wars universe or something. Most of the fans are against the idea of them being remade. Also, most remakes of movies are usually horrible. Other movies that have been remade in the past never were as good as the original. Nothing will be different with these movies either. They may be decent but could never beat the originals. We have already seen this story years ago, most people want something new. There is a whole lot of the Star Wars universe that has yet to be talked about, that the creators of the movies have something else to work from.
Reasons why they would:
Now, no matter what the fans think or not, there is bound to be remakes probably. I don't want it to happen, just like many other people, but it is bound to happen sometime in the future. The only possible reason I can think they would do it is because George Lucas would probably want to fix up and add to the story, so the movies can fit together. The creators could also do it because they are in it for the money, which is what most movie makers are out there for, and so they could get new fans into the series. They fear that people might not be able to come across the originals, or something similar, so they would think this could get newer fans into the series. Basically, it could just to be done to sell newer merchandise and make money. Although, I wouldn't see George Lucas doing it because of that reason.
What is better?:
A better thing to do is to just make newer movies, something after the originals would be best. That way, they could possibly still use the original actors later on since it would fit in since their older. Now, they could then add new actors to these movies because they are newer movies. They would have to feature newer people which would have to be played by different actors, alongside some old ones. That would be better than just remaking the originals. Most people want to see a continuation of the Star Wars story after Darth Vader rather than something we have seen before. Wouldn't you?
